Located just 70 km from Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is one of Mongolia’s most scenic and accessible parks. In winter, it transforms into a sparkling wonderland of frozen rivers, alpine forests, and snow-draped valleys. Home to nomadic herders, the park also features dramatic granite formations and rich biodiversity, making it perfect for sledding and cultural immersion.

Active and immersive.

You’ll cover 25–40 km per day by dog sled (5–7 hours). While the terrain is manageable and no prior experience is needed, basic physical fitness and cold-weather readiness are required. Each day ends with warm hospitality in a ger camp or nomadic family home.

Is prior dog sledding experience required?

No. Beginners are welcome, and training is provided by your guide and musher.

 

What temperatures should I expect?

Temperatures range between -5°C to -25°C. Proper winter clothing is essential.

 

Are the dogs well-treated?

Yes. All dogs are professionally trained, well-fed, and cared for. Their wellbeing is a top priority.

 

Will I drive my own sled?

You will assist the musher and may be able to drive under supervision. Full control depends on conditions and comfort.

 

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We accommodate most dietary needs. Please notify us in advance.

 

Can children join?

Children aged 10+ with good physical health can join with adult supervision.
