🦅 ABOUT EAGLE HUNTERS
Kazakh eagle hunters, known as Burkitshi, are custodians of a centuries-old tradition passed down through generations. Using only female golden eagles renowned for their strength and loyalty they hunt foxes, hares, and sometimes even wolves in winter. These hunters raise and train their eagles from a young age, forming a deep, almost spiritual bond. Today, fewer than 400 practicing eagle hunters remain, most of them living in the Altai Mountains of western Mongolia.
🏔️ ABOUT THE ALTAI MOUNTAINS
The Altai Mountains, where Mongolia, Russia, China, and Kazakhstan converge, offer a dramatic landscape of snow-capped peaks, rugged valleys, and remote steppe. Home to Kazakh nomads, these mountains are rich in biodiversity and cultural history, making them a perfect setting for an immersive adventure into eagle hunting.
