🎉 ABOUT TSGAAN SAR – MONGOLIAN LUNAR NEW YEAR

Tsagaan Sar (literally “White Moon”) is the most important traditional celebration in Mongolia, observed at the end of winter (January or February) to welcome spring and new beginnings. Deeply family-oriented, the holiday begins with Bituun (New Year’s Eve), when families prepare special foods like buuz (dumplings) and gather around the table for blessings. The first day of Tsagaan Sar is marked by traditional greetings called Zolgokh, symbolic offerings, religious rituals like Ovoo ceremonies, and sharing of dairy products and meat, symbolizing prosperity. It’s a time to honor elders, connect with loved ones, and ensure good fortune for the year ahead.

🐪 TOUR PACE: MODERATE & CULTURALLY IMMERSIVE

This tour involves moderate physical activity such as light hiking at Hustai National Park, climbing to viewing platforms, and walking around cultural sites. The main focus is cultural participation, offering immersive, slow-paced experiences like cooking, family rituals, and traditional ceremonies. Cold weather clothing is essential for comfort during the winter season.
