Khushuu Tsaidam

🏛️ KHUSHUU TSAIDAM – ORKHON INSCRIPTIONS OF THE TURKIC EMPIRE

Located in the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khushuu Tsaidam is home to the Orkhon Inscriptions, some of the oldest and most significant written records in Old Turkic script. These monuments commemorate Bilge Khan and Kul Tigin, two great leaders of the Second Turkic Khaganate (8th century).

The site offers a glimpse into the early history of the Turkic people—marking the rise of a vast steppe empire that influenced much of Central Asia. The inscriptions celebrate political unity, military victories, and the wisdom of governance, carved in stone and erected as sacred memorials. A small on-site museum protects replicas, while the originals are kept in the National Museum in Ulaanbaatar.
