Day 1 - Ulaanbaatar city capital of Mongolia

Upon your arrival at Chinggis Khan International Airport, our dedicated driver and guide will warmly welcome you. We'll start your exploration by driving to your selected hotel, ensuring a comfortable and convenient transfer. The adventure kicks off with a visit to the vibrant local outdoor market, where you can immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere, exploring the diverse array of goods and experiencing the local culture. Next on the itinerary is a visit to the magnificent Gandan Monastery, a spiritual and cultural center adorned with traditional architecture and Buddhist significance. You'll have the opportunity to witness the serene ambiance and perhaps engage in a moment of contemplation. Following the spiritual journey, we'll delve into Mongolia's rich history at the National Museum, providing insights into the country's past, traditions, and cultural heritage. It's a captivating experience to better understand the unique tapestry of Mongolia's story. As the day winds down, you'll have leisure time in Ulaanbaatar city to explore at your own pace. Day 2 - Tsagaan suvarga Cliff

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your accommodation and commence our journey to Tsagaan Suvarga Cliff. This remarkable geological formation boasts a sheer slope, revealing an ancient seabed with sedimentary layers shaped over millions of years. The varied colors of the terrain signify different historical periods. The cliff reaches a height of over 50 meters at its highest point, stretching for 400 meters, resembling a mystical ancient city when viewed from a distance. While at the site, we will engage in some hiking to explore its unique features. Tsagaan Suvarga serves as a restful overnight stop as we make our way from the Middle Gobi desert to the South Gobi desert.

Day 3 - Yol valley, Gobi Gurvan Saikhan national park

Following breakfast, we embark on a journey to Yol Valley. The term 'Yol' translates to vulture in Mongolian, and this valley originates from Zuun Saikhan Mountain, a prominent segment of the Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range, extending for over 10 kilometers. The narrowest section of the valley, accommodating only 3 or 4 individuals at a time, is entirely shaded by high cliff walls. Yol Valley is renowned for maintaining ice formations, created during winter by a small stream that persists even through the hot summer months until the end of July. The valley's beauty, coupled with the scent of juniper, creates an atmosphere of awe and wonder that is not to be missed. During our time there, we will explore the valley on horseback. If you prefer not to ride horses, a one-hour hike is also a delightful activity. Additionally, we will visit the local natural museum of Gurvan Saikhan National Park. We will spend the night in this captivating location.

Day 4 - Khongor sand dune, Gobi Gurvan Saikhan national park

On this day, our journey takes us to Khongor Sand Dune, the second-largest sand dune in the country, stretching along the northern side of Sevrei and Zoolun mountain ranges. This remarkable formation spans from 5 to 10 km in width and nearly 100 km in length, with crests reaching heights of 80 to 300m above the surrounding landscape. The booming sound generated by the shifting sands can be heard from a distance on windy days, earning the local moniker 'Singing Sands.' Adjacent to Khongor River at the dunes' northern edge lies an oasis. Today, we will embark on camel rides to explore these colossal sand dunes, venturing into an area where climbing one of the dunes offers energetic travelers an unforgettable experience of boundless vistas across a sea of daffodil-colored sand. We will spend the night in this enchanting desert oasis.

Day 5 - Bayanzag cliff, Gobi Gurvan Saikhan national park

Embark on a journey to Bayanzag, a renowned dinosaur site with a rich history. After a hearty breakfast, our path leads us to Bayanzag, which translates to 'saxaul forest' in English. The area is characterized by striking red cliffs, known as the Flaming Cliffs, formed over millions of years through the erosion by water and wind. This region holds significant paleontological importance, as it was here that numerous dinosaur fossils, including Protoceratops and dinosaur eggs, were first discovered. The site gained international recognition when American zoologist Roy Chapman Andrews conducted explorations, naming it the Flaming Cliffs. The red-hued cliffs, especially vibrant in the light of the setting sun, present a captivating spectacle from a distance. Take the opportunity to wander amidst one of the world's most famous paleontological landscapes. As the day draws to a close, enjoy an evening stroll around the site, soaking in the unique ambiance. Prepare for an overnight stay, surrounded by the ancient mysteries of Bayanzag.

Day 6 - Ongi monastery

Embark on a scenic drive to Kharhorum, pausing to explore the historic Ongi Monastery Ruins along the way. Following a delightful breakfast, our journey takes us to the Ongi Monastery Ruins, a poignant testament to the raw history of this sacred site. Established in 1760, the Buddhist monastery once stood as one of Mongolia's largest until its devastating destruction in 1937 during the communist era. Situated on the banks of the Ongi River, the ruins bear witness to the violence inflicted upon the monastery. Despite the passage of years, the remnants of this once-splendid institution echo the tales of its grandeur. A visit to the local ger museum offers a glimpse into the survived artifacts, preserving the memory of the monastery's rich heritage. A small, lively Buddhist temple adds a touch of spirituality to the site. Take a leisurely hike amidst the ruins, exploring the fascinating remnants and absorbing the historical ambiance. Day 7 - Orkhon waterfall, Orkhon valley

The Orkhon Valley stands as a testament to the forces of nature, boasting the Orkhon Waterfall, a spectacular cascade formed through a harmonious interplay of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes approximately 20,000 years ago. Plummeting from a height of 27 meters, the waterfall adds a touch of grandeur to the valley's scenic tapestry. The Orkhon River, Mongolia's longest, originates from the revered Suvraga Khairkhan mountain in the Khangai mountain range, tracing a majestic path through the valley. As the day unfolds, immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Orkhon Valley, where nature and history converge seamlessly. The night brings with it a serene stay, allowing you to absorb the essence of this cultural and natural marvel.

Day 8 - Karakorum city

Embark on a historical sojourn as we journey to Karakorum, the erstwhile capital of the Great Mongolian State. Following breakfast, our expedition takes us to this iconic city, founded in 1220 in the Orkhon River Valley under the auspices of Genghis Khan himself. The annals of history recount the city's rise and fall, from its zenith to its tragic demise in 1388 when it fell prey to invaders after the collapse of the Yuan dynasty of Khuvilai Khan Min. The invaders sacked Karakorum, leaving devastation in their wake, massacring its inhabitants and reducing the once-thriving city to ruins. Two centuries later, the legacy of Karakorum finds a resurgence in Erdene Zuu, a Buddhist monastery built in 1586. This monastery holds the distinction of being the first of its kind in Mongolia, crafted using construction materials sourced from the remnants of Karakorum's glory days. The late 18th century witnessed Erdene Zuu's zenith, with a complex featuring ornate gardens and a staggering 62 temples. Housing over 1000 lamas, the monastery stood as a testament to Mongolia's rich religious and cultural heritage. However, the shadows of history cast a somber hue, and in 1937, communist purges wrought destruction upon Erdene Zuu, leaving the monastery in ruins. Today, our visit to Karakorum unfolds as a journey through time, exploring the remnants of this once-mighty city. The Karakorum Museum, Karakorum Ruin Open Museum, and the Erdene Zuu Monastery Complex open their gates to our exploration, providing insights into the grandeur and tribulations that define this historical enclave. As the day transitions into night, we find repose in the embrace of Karakorum, where echoes of the past linger in the whispers of the wind.

Day 9 - Ulaanbaatar city

After our journey back to Ulaanbaatar, you can indulge in a well-deserved rest and relaxation at the hotel. The return trip, while long, provides a sense of accomplishment and a chance to reflect on the diverse landscapes and cultural experiences encountered during our adventure. Day 10 - Home sweet home
