Immerse yourself in the nomadic culture of Mongolia with a unique experience of staying with nomadic families. Approximately half of the population continues to lead a nomadic lifestyle, and this journey offers an authentic glimpse into their traditions. Spend days with nomads, participating in activities such as grazing herds, horseback riding, and savoring local cuisine. Accommodations include stays in traditional Gers or separate tents for a genuine overnight experience, providing the opportunity to engage with nomadic families, ask questions, and learn about their fascinating way of life. For this trip, you have two options. The first is a high-level, latest model, air-conditioned private 4WD vehicle for maximum comfort during your touring days. The second option is a Russian 4x4 Van, operated by a driver with 20 years of experience.
MEALS
In Mongolia, dining will take place at fine American, European, and Asian cuisine restaurants. The Mongolian diet primarily consists of mutton, beef, rice, and noodles, forming the basis of your meals. Trail rations may include vegetables, eggs, peanut butter, cheese, and occasionally yak! Some days will feature lunchboxes prepared by our cook.

Day 2 - Karakorum city via Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes
In the morning, we will collect you from your accommodation and commence our journey by driving to Karakorum (modern-day Kharkorin town) via the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes. As we leave the city, we'll pass by some local shops before embarking on a 260 km drive through the vast steppe to reach the sand dunes. Elsen Tasarkhai, situated within the Khogno Khan Nature Reserve, offers a glimpse of the Gobi Desert in the midst of the Khangai mountain range. Upon arrival, indulge in the joy of camel riding through the golden sand dunes, guided by an experienced camel handler. After a delightful lunch, our journey continues to Karakorum, the historic capital of the Mongolian Empire and a pivotal hub along the Silk Road. Beyond its current appearance, Karakorum holds a wealth of historical significance. The Erdenezuu Monastery, Mongolia's largest and historically paramount religious and cultural center, now functions as a museum. Scattered throughout the city, various stone relics and ancient artifacts tell tales dating back centuries. Enjoy an overnight stay in a Ger camp, immersed in the rich history and charm of Karakorum.

Day 3 - Ikh Tamir village
Today's adventure leads us to a nomadic family, where you'll immerse yourself in the nomadic lifestyle for a fulfilling three-day experience. Along the way, we'll stop at the renowned Taikhar Rock, situated 22 kilometers northeast of Tsertserleg town in the village of Ikh Tamir. This sizable 20-meter high granite rock bears witness to history with over 150 inscriptions in various languages, spanning different periods such as runic, Sogd, Uyghur, Mongolian, Nangiad, and Tibetan writings. Among them, the oldest is a runic inscription from the 6th and 7th centuries during the Turkish period. By the afternoon, we'll arrive at the nomadic family's dwelling. Extend a warm welcome to the nomad family, where you'll share lunch and engage in a basic introduction. The afternoon continues with a Ger building program, offering you a firsthand experience of assembling a Ger. Your guide will provide a brief instruction on the Ger's main structure and the tasks involved, showcasing why nomadic people have favored the Ger as their preferred accommodation for generations. In the evening, delve into the culinary traditions of Mongolia as you learn to cook authentic dishes with the guidance of the hostess. Day 4 - Nomadic family

Following a hearty breakfast, join the kids in herding cows and sheep to pasture, gaining hands-on experience in nomadic daily life. The rest of the day unfolds with the hostess guiding you through the art of crafting tasty and nutritious dairy products, such as 'aaruul' and 'byaslag,' which are Mongolian cheeses. Additionally, delve into the process of blending the traditional Mongolian vodka known as 'Shimiin arkhi' from milk—an art not commercially produced but sometimes shared with guests visiting a nomadic family in their Ger.
