Photography Tour to Reindeer Herders in Mongolia /11 days/

Take a photo tour to wild Taiga Mountains of Mongolia with experienced guide. Photographers and travelers have a great opportunity to photograph Mongolia’s epic landscapes such as majestic mountains, peaceful forest and picturesque lakes along with the hundreds of grazing sheep, galloping horses, caravanning reindeers, explore lifestyle of authentic Mongol nomads- the yurt dwellers, and experience mysterious shaman rituals while staying with Mongolian Ethnic Dukha Tribe-the teepee dwellers.

You will be roaming through the taiga wilderness on reindeer and horseback, living with mystical Tsaatan people to experience primitive lifestyle, sitting around the campfire to talk about shaman stories, staying in teepee, waking up in the foggy morning surrounded the photogenic landscape of Northern Mongolia and Capture them all with your camera. All levels of photographers are welcome. DAY 1.

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar.

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. Have lunch at restaurant and relax for a while at hotel room. Start city tour with Gandan monastery and national history museum. We will walk through and photograph selected parts of Ulaanbaatar and the night life of the city which is thriving day by day. Hotel ****. (L/D)  

DAY 2.

Khuvsgul Lake National Park

Domestic flight to Murun town and picked up from local airport by then drive to Khuvsgul Lake – as named as “Blue Pearl”. The lake itself is one of the natural wonders of the earth and the second largest freshwater lake. It is surrounded by magnificent pine-covered mountains. You will relax at the lakeshore and capture a multitude of stars over the blue lake. Stay overnight in ger camp. (B/L/D)

DAY 3.

Khuvsgul Lake

A half day photographing in Khovsgol Lake area surrounded by stunning color providing tips and tricks. Then heading to Tsagaan Nuur village, where Tsaatan people are settled. We will drive through Darkhad depression, is one of the must photograph landscapes in Mongolia due to its outstanding natural beauty, ragged mountains, peaceful meadows, marvelous lakes and clear air. Stay overnight at tent. (B/L/D) 

DAY 4.

Khogrog Lake

 The day we will leave our car and driver and meet our next adventure crew. Arrive at Lake Khogrog where we meet our horse crew and Riding Adventure begins here. Having lunch and short break, then start packing on horseback. We saddle up the horses and ride up to the Taiga Mountains. Tent camping. (B/L/D)

DAY 5-8.

Reindeer herders in Taiga forest

Reindeer herders/Tsaatan people, who live in the exact place for an ancient traditions and oldest religious human belief – Shamanism, that rules the tribal life for thousands of years and still exists today. Photograph in high Taiga forest environment, primitive lifestyle and ancient strange culture, unique portraits of Reindeer herders, adorable Dukha children who are spending their summer holiday, playing and riding reindeer around. Late evening we will experience and capture Spiritual Shaman’s performance, sacrificing ceremony to the earth.  Tented camp. (B/L/D)

DAY 9.

Back towards Murun and stop at Tsagaan Lake soum.

It is time to heading back and say good bye to the incredible Tsaatan friends. Hop on horseback and ride back towards Khogrog Lake. We will stop in Tsagaan Nuur Village to take short rest. Wild camping on the way to Murun town. Stay in tent camp. (B/L/D)

DAY 10.

Arrive in Murun via Ulaan Uul village.

DAY 11.

City tour

Flight from Murun to Ulaanbaatar. Short city tour depending on the domestic flight. In the evening, go to traditional folk song performance and photograph colorful traditional dressed beautiful dancers and singers on the stage. Hotel****. (B/L/D)

DAY 12.


Transfer to the airport and departure. We hope you will collect beautiful memories in your mind and unique captures on your camera.

This trip uses the highest level, latest model, air-conditioned private vans or 4WD vehicles for the maximum comfort on your touring days.



In Mongolia, you will be dining at fine American, Eropean and Asian cuisine restaurants. Mutton, beef, rice and noodles form the basis of the Mongolian diet, so your meals will be based around this. However, the trail rations may include vegetables, eggs, peanut butter, cheese and sometimes yak! On some days there will be lunchboxes from tourist camps. It is good food and our experience has been that guests are happy with this arrangement. Please let us know in advance if you are a vegetarian. Alcohol is not provided on the trip but tourists are free to bring their own.



A Chinese, English or Russian speaking Mongolian guide will accompany the group at all times. The guide will be a native Kazakh person with great local knowledge who can deal with any requests and ensure that your holiday to become one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.


Personal things to bring with you: 

Warm thin layers of clothing are the best such as bring a rain jacket, gloves and hiking booth. Don’t forgot first aid kit (medicine for headache, cold, diarrhea, runny nose; bandages; any medicine prescribed for you). All your camera equipment.
