Climbing tour to Mt. Khuiten peak/4374m/, Altai Tavan Bogd mountain /12 days/
SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Mongolian Altai Mountains, situated on the borders of Russia and China, stand as the highest among the country's three major mountain ranges. Adorned with perpetually snow-capped peaks and glaciers, the Altai Mountains offer breathtaking landscapes. The Tavan Bogd, meaning 'The Five Saints,' encompasses the highest peak, Khuiten (4,374m), along with Nairamdal (4,082m), Snow Church (4,071m), Ulgii (4,113m), and Malchin (4,050m), all clustered around the expansive Potanin Glacier. This region is rich in diverse wildlife, featuring argali sheep, ibex, elk, brown bears, marmots, foxes, and wolves, including endangered species like the snow leopard and lynx. Avian inhabitants include Saker falcons, Altai snow cocks, and the majestic golden eagles used by Kazakh eagle-hunters. The Altai Mountains also boast a wealth of archaeological wonders, including petroglyphs, deer stones, Turkic stone men, and ancient burial sites.
